Checking in from Ottawa (okay,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Kanata) in advance of tonight’s seventh (yawn) pre-season game and third against the Sens with a couple of observations.
1. Will be interesting to see how Nazem Kadri does on the wing tonight with Phil Kessel and Tyler Bozak. You can question the public comments coach Ron Wilson has made about Kadri (I don’t, for the record) but not that Kadri has been given every opportunity to succeed.
2. The next time a coach or GM says you can’t have enough defenceman, listen up. The Leafs currently have four D-men in varying degrees of pain – Luke Schenn (knee), Jeff Finger (knee), Brett Lebda (shoulder) and Matt Lashoff (shoulder.)
4. Leafs assistant coach Tim Hunter on Kadri’s supposed last chance (as told to Sun colleague Lance Hornby). “When you haven’t had a great training camp and the coaches show faith in you, then you’d better take advantage.”

3. J-S. Giguere is scheduled to get the full game in net for the Leafs. Fair to say the team could use a solid, complete game from a g-man, a position that has yet to truly shine in the pre-season.
